چکیده

Article history: Received 30 June 2009 Received in revised form 18 September 2009 Accepted 28 September 2009 Available online 30 September 2009 Variance based methods have assessed themselves as versatile and effective among the various available techniques for sensitivity analysis of model output. Practitioners can in principle describe the sensitivity pattern of a model Y = f (X1, X2, . . . , Xk) with k uncertain input factors via a full decomposition of the variance V of Y into terms depending on the factors and their interactions. More often practitioners are satisfied with computing just k first order effects and k total effects, the latter describing synthetically interactions among input factors. In sensitivity analysis a key concern is the computational cost of the analysis, defined in terms of number of evaluations of f (X1, X2, . . . , Xk) needed to complete the analysis, as f (X1, X2, . . . , Xk) is often in the form of a numerical model which may take long processing time. While the computational cost is relatively cheap and weakly dependent on k for estimating first order effects, it remains expensive and strictly k-dependent for total effect indices. In the present note we compare existing and new practices for this index and offer recommendations on which to use. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Mixed two-stage derivative estimator for sensitivity analysis

In mathematical modeling, determining most influential parameters on outputs is of major importance. Thus, sensitivity analysis of parameters plays an important role in model validation. We give detailed procedure of constructing a new derivative estimator for general performance measure in Gaussian systems. We will take advantage of using score function and measure-value derivative estimators ...

Sensitivity Analysis of Technology Changes for EnergyDemand by Iranian Economic Sectors: an Application of Sherman-Morrisson Method and Input-Output Approach

We undertook a sensitivity analysis of the key demand factors leading to changes of energy consumption in the competitive market, using a Leontief demand-driven approach. We applied the Leontief model to previous research results to study the most sensitive factors leading to the change of energy demand in different economic sectors. Based on the 2011 Iranian symmetrical input–output table, the...

Robust inter and intra-cell layouts design model dealing with stochastic dynamic problems

In this paper, a novel quadratic assignment-based mathematical model is developed for concurrent design of robust inter and intra-cell layouts in dynamic stochastic environments of manufacturing systems. In the proposed model, in addition to considering time value of money, the product demands are presumed to be dependent normally distributed random variables with known expectation, variance, a...

Design and Analysis of Step Stress Accelerated Life Tests for Censored Data}

Life testing often is consuming a very long time for testing. Therefore, the engineers and statisticians are looking for some approaches to reduce the running time. There is a recommended method for reducing the time of failure, such that the stress level of the test units will increase, and then they will fail earlier than normal operating conditions. These approaches are called accelerated li...
